Out meeting #255 began at about 7pm with the Sergeant-At-Arms, Kyle Kuah, TM calling the meeting to order. He led us in the first 5 promises of Toastmasters. He then handed over to the Acting President, CP Lau, CC. He invited the members to introduce themselves. The Acting President then introduced the Word of the Day, Perseverance, which is a strong persistence in course of action. Matthew Phillipose, TM first-time
Toastmaster of the Evening. Well done!

The Acting President then handed the meeting over to the Toastmaster of the Evening, Mathew Philippose. TM Mathew highlighted the theme of the day which was Heritage is our Legacy.

It was very interesting evening, in our humor session. Ron Yeap, TM put audience to laugh with a story on the bow and arrow. It was a day packed with of five prepared speeches.

Kyle said Facebook is all we need
TM Kyle Kuah a young energetic student from Help University led the speeches by sharing on Facebook. Everyone may know Facebook but he led us to see the many faces that Facebook has so that we can make the full use of it.

Ron Yeap delivering Project Speech #6 of
the Competent Communication Manual on
Vocal Variety
TM Ron Yeap a project engineer in Data Center Specialist Company next took to the stage with topic on Project Management in a Nutshell. He pointed out that everyone has a project. He created a realization that a wedding, a house renovation or a family vacation is a project. Many a times these are delayed because we did not take into account certain point of view that may come along the way. It can be from the wife, or the mother or a friend. He stressed that it is important to take into account the unforeseen situation as we plan and have an oversight of how to manage.

CP Lau presenting Technical Presentation
from Advanced Communication Manual
The next interesting topic was Software Testing by on CP Lau, CC; he gave a step by step understanding of how software testing is done. He gave everyday life experiences how the software testing can be done in a simple way for example what happens after a product is scanned in the supermarket. CP Lau, CC had been in IT industry for the past 20 years gave such a detail power point presentation and he kept the audience glued.

Seasoned speaker Ken Chan, delivering
his speech with title 'Financials'
He was followed by another interesting topic on Financial. This topic was shared by a qualified Chartered Management Accountant and he too has been 20 years in the financial industry. He is none other than our President Ken Chan, ACS, ALB. He peeled out the details of financial statement one by one. Can one ask for anything more complete in a ten minute presentation and not forgetting with his witty humor and an unceasing broad smile?

Serena Kong, attempting speech in
Story Telling
Yes, who did we have after that it was our Serena Kong, CC who came with a story telling with the topic The Ugly Duckling. Who could have imagined in this true story the ugly duckling would be the person she trusted but ended up as a cheat.  Her story gave a the understanding that duck is only cute as long as it is not playing with the mud the moment a person does dirty tricks he becomes an ugly duckling that no one wants to come near.

After the one and half hour thought provoking, informative and humorous session, all adjourned for break with food and fellowship. There was an interesting lay out of food from “nasi lemak” to all kinds of local delicacies from Pasar Ramadhan.

Once the break was over in about 15 minutes all sat down to hear the evaluators, it is said feedback is the breakfast for the champions so we had the following to feed us with their evaluations, Alwin Chuah, CTM, CL; Kelvin Chong, CC; KL Loh, ATMG; Tan Beng Hoe, CTM, CL; and Francis Ng, DTM.  This was followed by a detail report by Grammarian, CP Lau, CC; Ah-Counter, Serena Kong, CC and Time Keeper, Kelvin Chong, CC. And finally we had the General Evaluator, Dr William Lau, DTM.

Dr. William Lau, honored to have him
