By 7.30pm, members adjourned to Haagan Dazs to put the final touches on site and transform the ice cream joint into a TM installation setting with stage area, reception area with door gifts in place, A/V corner, banners and all.

By 7.45pm, we were all set to receive our guests ...

At 8.00pm sharp, the show began...
Club President, Ken Chan welcomed the guest of honour, Mr K.C. See of MasteryAsia (M) Sdn. Bhd. Division Governors, Area Governors, our club sponsor & mentor, past presidents, fellow toastmasters and guests.

Ken thanked all those present for gracing our event and promised an exciting evening.  Ken then presented a token of appreciation to KC See.

KC See took us back to memory lane and related how it all began...

The idea of forming a Toastmasters Club in Kuala Lumpur for Money Mastery graduates was mooted by Gerry Roberts and KC See, the master trainers at the Money Mastery Boot Camps in 2002.  They both believed that communication & leadership skills are essential skills to succeed in life. In mid 2002, KC See gathered a group of Money Mastery graduates to witness a demonstration of a Toastmasters meeting conducted by members of Kuala Lumpur Advanced Toastmasters Club  and Ernst & Young’s Toastmasters Club, led by Geoff Andrew at the Bankers Club, Kuala Lumpur. Thereafter, this led to the chartering of Money Mastery-KL Toastmasters Club.
KC See was very impressed with the excellent track records of the club and congratulated the club members for their efforts. Way to go!

Ken Chan’s address as the Area G1 Governor and praised the club for being a President’s Distinguished Club since 2003. Keep it up!

Club Officer Installation
Our installing officer, Geoff Andrew DTM started with asking the outgoing club officers to be upstanding, then thanked and discharged them.
Next, Geoff called the incoming officers forward, in the following order:

Sergeant at arms – Kyle Kuah,
Treasurer – Francis Ng,
Secretary – Mathew Philippose,
Vice-President Public Relations – Ron Yeap,
 Vice-President Membership – Serena Kong,
Vice - President Education – Lau Chuen Pang and
President  - Ken Chan

Geoff asked each officer to hold the gavel as a symbol of leadership and described briefly the challenges and responsibilities to be fulfilled. He gave the gavel to each officer and asked, “Will you perform these duties to the best of your ability?”

Immediate Past President, Victor Wan and incoming President, Ken Chan, each pinned the other officer as a symbol of their dedication and service.

Immediate Past President thanked his exco and members for their support in achieving the President’s Distinguished Club status. He implored the new exco to keep the club flag flying!

President Ken Chan in his acceptance address, elicit support from his exco and members by invocating that the club is only as good as its members and vouched to take care of members’ interests. He reiterated to members to uphold the values of the club and “RISE” to the occasion in meeting the challenges ahead. These values are Respect of the individual, Integrity in our dealings,  Service above self and Excel in all things we do.

Time wise, we were spot on and by 9.00pm, we had the cutting of the 10th Anniversary Cake and kicked off the Ice Cream Party.

Ice cream and more ice-cream.  Free flowing...

In between partying, we sneaked in an appreciation slot by the IPP to recognise his exco and awarded the Toastmaster of the Year 2011/2012 for our club to the then VPE, Ken Chan.

Also, Trivia quiz and impromptu speech games by Francis Ng, DTM and Serena Kong.

True to form, we ended punctually at 9.30pm.
Hugs, handshakes and hurray ... till we meet again.
