Master Your Mind, Design Your Destiny. Something we as Toastmasters live by in shaping ourselves when it comes to growing in public speaking and leadership. Today with this theme , our meeting ran with extra caution amidst the Covid-19 outbreak. The word of the day was “Proficiency” and likewise we attend these regular meetings to increase our proficiency in these two fields.
Our meeting kicked off with Abdulrahman, PM2 the ASAA calling the meeting to order and reciting the Toastmasters’ Promise. This is a tradition strictly followed by us here at Money Mastery-KL Toastmasters. Our exciting President, KL Loh, ATMG then took the stage with his usual vigour and excitement for his Presidential address giving a chance for everyone to introduce themselves.
Today we had a whole load of guests more than 10 of
them nearly out beating the number of members themselves. It was great to see
how well publicized and known is our club. Our charming and charismatic
Toastmaster of the Evening was none other than Ron Yeap, ACS, ALB who brought
the guests through the history of Toastmasters in a systematic and steady
manner.
Today’s row of technical players were Abdulrahman, PM2
as the Ah-Counter, Laurence our beautiful guest from OUM Toastmasters as our
Grammarian, EK Yeo, CC, CL as the Timer and our guest of honour, our General
Evaluator was the humble and eloquent Joe Chang, ACG, ALB.
The main part of the meeting started with the Table
Topics™ Session conducted by CS Ong, PM1. He was well prepared with an array of
fantastic topics and was bold and clear with his conducting of the session. All
the guests had a roll at trying out those amazing topics. They are:
A) Salem
B) Chloe
C) Amreer
D) Celest
E) Cetani

Next up was the main prepared speech sessions and today
we had an impressive line of speakers, 4 jam packed for the session. First up
was Hai Liang, who spoke on his path Effective Coaching with the subject ‘My
Storyboard’ and gave us 7 interesting tips to use in our lives.
Following was Nantha Kumar on his path Innovative
Planning and he spoke on ‘Lie Detector’. It was a calm and composed speech you
wouldn’t be sure if he was lying at all. Haha!
Then our best speaker and pioneer, Ken Chan, DTM
rocked the stage with his speech on ‘Leading in Crisis’. He shared with us his
experience as a leader and how he solved a 100 year old problem at work.
Finally was Chitirra, LD1 who shared with us on her
leadership styles with the title ‘The Slow Coach’. She spoke about her
strengths and weakness and a coaching leader and other attributes of various
leadership styles.
Alas, the guests and members took a tasty break with our signature Nasi Lemak and enjoyed the networking session with other delicacies as well.
After the short break, we moved on to the fantabulous
evaluation session lead by our General Evaluator, Joe Chang, ACG, ALB.
The first evaluator was the Table Topics Evaluator, KL
Loh, ATMG who gave his sniper evaluation to the point and with zest. Following,
we had the panel evaluators for the assigned speakers. Wendy Sim, CC came back
on to the stage after ages as an evaluator for Hai Liang, our guest also from
OUM, Jon Tan, DTM evaluated Nantha Kumar, Julia Leong, ACG, ALB evaluated Ken Chan,
DTM while Ken Chan, DTM gave his powerful feedback for Chitirra, LD1.
A round of open evaluation was in place at our club as
usual where everyone from the floor gets to give their personal feedback
towards the assigned project speakers. The General Evaluator then called upon
the technical role players to give each their Ah-Counter, Grammarian and
Timer’s report followed by his own humble generation evaluation of our club
meeting.
The night was drawing to its close when our President
took back the stage to give out the awards of the night. Our pretty guest
Celest, won the Table Topics™ session while Ken Chan, DTM bagged both the best
speaker and the best evaluator of the night.
Our President closed the meeting with his spirited end
speech and we all left with some mastery of our minds in shaping our destinies
after a grand group photo. Truly every meeting brings something to the table
for all. So you there reading this, step out of your comfort zone, step up to
the challenge and step in to Money Mastery-KL Toastmasters as our President
calls it. The best in Malaysia, Singapore and Batam Island. Cheerios!!!
