Meeting #380 - Your Vote, Your Voice

The meeting #380 was a relatively short meeting but important.Club members turned up to exercise their rights in the Annual Business Meeting after the meeting. Our theme is “Your Vote, Your Voice.”

The opening of the meeting was carried out by our respective Dr. Thilla C., DTM. She led us sprightly in reciting the Toastmaster’s Promises. Followed by the President’s address from Ron Yeap, CC. It was the electrifying session. First, he invited Chitirra, grammarian to introduced the word of the day, “harmonious” and encourage us to use during our introduction. The theme provoked good thoughts and voiced in harmonious way.

The session was conducted in a zestful manner before passing the floor to the Toastmaster of the evening, Shain. He is a fast- learner and he lead the whole meeting harmoniously without showing any nervousness. This was his maiden time to take up this role. Well done, Shain!

In this meeting, we did not have prepared speech as our schedule did not allow us to have it. However, we had a very interesting Table Topics™ session. Experienced Table Topics™ Master Ben Hoe, CTM, CL gave good topics the speakers to ponder about. The speakers were:

     A)   Charmine Lee, ACB, ALB -“There is no such thing as the vote does not matter”

     B)   CP Lau, ACB, ALB -"Showing up and involve in the decision making"

     C)   Guest Jia Ming -“President is selected not elected”

     D)   Mathew Philippose, CC, ALB -“Money has replaced the vote”

     E)   Serena Kong, ACB - “Never believe that you should be silent”.

All of speeches were evaluated by KL Loh, ATMG. He listened, he encouraged and he highlighted the areas of improvement for each individuals.

In this meeting, we had our past president Ken Chan, DTM to be our General Evaluator. He was humorous and he lighted up the whole evaluation session. His team members of the functional roles were:

      A)   Timer- Wendy Sim

      B)   “Ah” Counter- EK Yeo, CC, CL

      C)   Grammarian- Chitirra

The club meeting adjourned at 8:40pm.  The club meeting ended early to give way for our Annual Business meeting. See you all in our next meeting on 23rd of May 2017.
