CHANGING MEETING VENUES CREATIVE WAY TO RENEW ENTHUSIASM AT MEETINGS
Different Venues
The venue for meetings is very important. If meetings are always held at the same place, there is a tendency to say the same thing and think the same way. One way to get off this situation is to hold meetings at different venues.
There are many possibilities :
- Changing meeting rooms within the company itself . It will also provide an opportunity for the people from various departments to get to know each others’ work better.
- Meeting in the suppliers or customers premises and inviting them to join in the meeting.
- Holding meetings in an outlying holiday resort where the attendees are casually dressed.
- Having outdoor meetings to tie in with some games
The possibilities are endless. It is up to you to create the right environment. You may even occasionally surprise them such as holding a meeting in the jungle, by the beach or on a cruise ship. You need not spend a lot of money. All you need is some creativity in selecting the venue.
The above are just a sampling of the ways in which innovative companies conduct their meetings to generate new ideas to fuel their phenomenal growth. Is your company ready to conduct its meetings differently? I hope this article will provide you with some food for thought.
Overall, meetings should be fun and enjoyable. Those attending the meeting should be imbued with infectious enthusiasm. Your company will then become known as a fun company and creative people will flock to work for you. These are the gold-collar workers who will propel your company to a path of sustainable prosperity.

A NEW CLUB IS BORN - Y.S.P. TOASTMASTERS CLUB-A NEW YEAR BABY
Well done to IPP Tan Ben Hoe, PP Alwin Chua, PP Chong Huey Yee, PP MK Low, and Charter President Hj Naburi, PAGW6 Paul Tan, ADGWM N.J.Singam, AGW4 Fan Chen Keat, Metropolitan Bilingual TM Sam Leong and ex Maybank TM Ng Thian Watt who made up the team of role players led by Div. W Club Extension Chairman DTM Francis Ng to perform the Orientation Meeting for the new Club, Y.S.P. TMC. The orientation meeting was conducted very successfully and a compressed toastmasters meeting was demonstrated to more than 30 members of the management and staff of YSP Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.
The majority of the team members comprise of Past Presidents of MMKL TMC who played their role in the true ESPRIT DE CORP of our club. According to the Div. W Club Extension Chairman, Francis Ng the credit to sponsor the new club has been awarded to MMKL TMC. This is another feather in our cap. Congratulations and Kudos to the team. This augurs well for our club and a good start, good feng shui, a good first activity for the year 2009. Every member of our club should be very proud of our club for it's high leadership performance and standard set for the club.
Money Mastery-KL TMC has been well known for being one of the leading clubs if not THE LEADING CLUB in Div. W as well as District 51. We have managed to established as a Distinguished Club right from the first year of its formation in 2002 and thereafter achieving President Distinguished Club for the last six years running. I hope and pray that every member is conscious that they belong to a very Distinguished Club and should be proud of it. Everyone must realise that ONE PERSON alone could not make this happen. It is the contributions and the combined efforts of every member to contribute towards this achievement. Of course some members may contribute in a very passionate way and some a little less passionate but the main thing is everyone contributes. It is the team spirit and the Esprit de corp, tolerance and the healthy social environment and understanding amongst each and everyone of us that's responsible for our achievement. No one person can claim that credit to himself. The club does not belong to one person only. One person cannot make a club. We must remember that!
We have already built up the most beautiful and wonderful organisation with a crown jewel on our head. Are we going to destroy all that glory? Of course NOT! I am sure we all LOVE our club. Let's keep it that way. PLEASE do not allow trivial matters and personal egotism and pride and personal agendas to destroy the good name and image of our club. The club does not owe anything to any individual member but we members owes a lot to the club. I am proud to be the Charter President of this highly distinguished club. REMEMBER the words of CC Cindy Foong in her very inspiring 1oth speech urging us to CHANGE propitiously for the new year 2009, "Find in yourself to change...open up your mind to all possibilities......be grateful......appreciate life....enjoy life's journey.......live for the moment....life is short......" "Let us give our sincere and wholehearted commitment and conviction and be a teamplayer and keep up the teamwork.."
So fellow members of MMKL TMC let us enjoy our toastmastering journey with happiness, joy and fun while striving for greater achievements and success not only for ourseleves but for the club true to the motto of "Friends Helping Friends to succeed and make their dreams a reality"
Thus let us"Awaken our Inner Strength" and build up "The Courage To Conquer" ONWARDS!!

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY - CHANGE FOR THE BETTER
This is truly a Great Inspiration. ....
A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time
to choose a successor to take over the business.
Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he
decided to do something different. He called all the young executives
in his company together.
He said, 'It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO.
I have decided to choose one of you. 'The young executives were
shocked, but the boss continued. 'I am going to give each one
of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant
the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with
what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then
judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be
the next CEO.'
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others,
received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the
story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted
the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had
grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began
to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.
Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.
Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing.
By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have
a plant and he felt like a failure.
Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he
had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but
he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however.
He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the
seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company
brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.
Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot.
But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick
to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment
of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot
to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety
of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful --
in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and
many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!
When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young
executives.
Jim just tried to hide in the back. 'My, what great plants, trees,
and flowers you have grown,' said the CEO. 'Today one of you will
be appointed the next CEO!'
All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with
his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to
the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, 'The CEO knows I'm a
failure! Maybe he will have me fired!'
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened
to his seed - Jim told him the story.
The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim,
and then announced to the young executives, 'Behold your next
Chief Executive Officer!
His name is Jim!' Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow
his seed.
'How could he be the new CEO?' the others said.
Then the CEO said, 'One year ago today, I gave everyone in this
room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it,
and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds;
they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.
All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and
flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you
substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the
only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with
my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new
Chief Executive Officer!'
* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
* If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
* If you plant hard work, you will reap success
* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation
* If you plant faith in GOD, you will reap a harvest
So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

Brain Teaser for 2009
Irish Maths Test
An Irishman applied for a job on a construction site, but the foreman wouldn't hire him until he passed a simple maths test.
Here is your first question, the foreman said. "Without using numbers, represent the number 9."
"Without numbers?" The Irishman says, "Dat is easy," and proceeded to draw three trees.
"What's this?" the boss asked.
"Ave you got no brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine," said the Irishman.
"Fair enough," said the boss. "Here's your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99."
The Irishman stared into space for a while, then picked up the picture that he has just drawn and made a smudge on each tree. "Ere you go."
The boss scratched his head and said, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?"
"Each of da trees is dirty now. So, it's dirty tree, and dirty tree, and dirty tree. Dat is 99."
The boss was getting worried that he's going to actually have to hire this Irishman, so he said, "All right, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100."
The Irishman stared into space some more, then he picked up the picture again and made a little mark at the base of each tree and says, "Ere you go. One hundred."
The boss looked at the attempt. "You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred!"
The Irishman leaned forward and pointed to the marks at the base of each tree and said, "A little dog came along and crapped by each tree. So now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, which makes one hundred."
"So, when do I start?"Contributed by Julia Leong.
